Ο πρόεδρος των ΗΠΑ, Ντόναλντ Τραμπ, δήλωσε πριν από λίγο ότι πιστεύει ότι ο πόλεμος με το Ιράν «δεν θα διαρκέσει πολύ» και ότι «οι τιμές του πετρελαίου θα πέσουν κατακόρυφα» όταν τελειώσει.
Μιλώντας στη δημοσιογράφο του PBS, Λιζ Λάντερς, ο Τραμπ δήλωσε ότι εκτιμά η αντιπαράθεση με το Ιράν δεν θα διαρκέσει για μεγάλο χρονικό διάστημα και ότι θα υπάρξει μεγάλη πτώση των τιμών του πετρελαίου. «Όταν ολοκληρωθεί η σύγκρουση οι τιμές του πετρελαίου θα πέσουν σαν πέτρα» είπε χαρακτηριστικά.
Ο πρόεδρος των ΗΠΑ αποκάλυψε επίσης ότι έδωσε συγκεκριμένες οδηγίες στον στρατό πριν από την αεροπορική επιχείρηση της Παρασκευής στο νησί Χαργκ, προκειμένου να αποφευχθούν πλήγματα σε κρίσιμες πετρελαϊκές υποδομές του Ιράν. Σύμφωνα με τον ίδιο, ζήτησε από το Πεντάγωνο να μην υπάρξει καμία ζημιά στις εγκαταστάσεις του νησιού , το οποίο αποτελεί το βασικό σημείο φόρτωσης των ιρανικών εξαγωγών πετρελαίου.
«Τους είπα να αφήσουν απόσταση περίπου εκατό γιάρδες γύρω από οτιδήποτε έχει σχέση με το πετρέλαιο. Η επίθεσή δεν πλησίασε καν τις συγκεκριμένες υποδομές» είπε ακόμη..

He said the conflict is a “very small price to pay” after years of terror from the regime and “the oil prices will drop like a rock as soon as it’s over.” When I asked for a timeline on those dropping, he said, “Well as soon as the war is over… I don’t believe it will be long.”

Final Q I got was about American troops on the ground in Iran and whether he sees that happening: “I don’t wanna say that.” When I asked if his thinking has changed on that issue, he said, “No it’s not changed” -but he just didn’t want to discuss strategy with a reporter.
