This municipal square which is also considered the center of the district of the same name. It is located between the old building of the National Technical University, Kanningos square, Lykavittos and Strefi Hill, and between Stournara, SpyrouTrikoupi and Themistokleous streets. In the center of the square travelers can gaze upon a brass sculptural work of artdating back to 1909, with three reliefs of boys, the Three Cupids and a lamppost on top of a pole. The squaremostly includes pedestrian walkways and visitors can enjoy food, coffee and drinks in one of the many shops.
The square was named after an Epirotian merchant, named Vasilios Exarchos, who opened a large grocery store in the late 1800s with very affordable prices, so everyone went there for their supplies. Until that time, the area was called Pitharadika, as people used to visit the area to buy jars for their homes.
The names of the streets in the area are related to personalities from the Greek War of Independence, such as Tzavella, Messolongiou, Manis, Navarinou, Valtetsiou, Dervenia, Zalongou, Nikitaras, Mavrokordatou, Gravias, Koletti, Londou, etc.
